Today I had brunch with a group of friends down in the Mission at a place called B3. I’ve been here before a few times before and always get a burger, but today I was feeling something a little different. The brunch menu is a new thing for me, and they have chicken and waffles. Their burgers are so damn good that I wanted one though so I thought about combining the two. I don’t think I could have stacked a burger with a fried chicken piece, so I settle for a burger with a waffle instead of a bun.
The burger came open faced with the waffle on the bottom, and all the waffle accessories, a orange butter and syrup. The burger itself was the cardiac arrest, which is a burger topped with bacon, mushrooms, fried egg, foie gras. Finding a good way to eat the burger was kind of difficult so i quartered the waffle and used one quater for the top and one for the bottom, leaving half the waffle, this would become important later on. I quick drizzle of maple syrup and a slathering of butter and it was good to go.
That first bite was like flavor crack. The interplay between the sweetness of the syrup and the savoriness of the other components, was insanity. It also enhanced maple bacon making the it more assertive. About halfway through inhaling the burger the “buns” started falling apart. This is where the second half the waffle came into play, just slapped those on and that allowed it to hold its shape for the last half. I would definitely get another one.
